Port Lockroy, Base A
The former Base A at Port Lockroy, Antarctica is now a site museum and post office. It was the first British base established in the white continent, under the wartime Operation Tabarin in 1944. Nowadays, thousands of travellers visit Port Lockroy where, besides learning part of the Antarctic history, they can enjoy the company of curious Gentoo penguins.
